Scenic Beauty: The Marangu Route offers a variety of landscapes, including lush rainforests, alpine meadows, and desert-like terrain as you ascend. You’ll experience a range of ecosystems and breathtaking views.
Acclimatization Day: At Horombo Hut, you’ll have an acclimatization day, which is crucial for adjusting to the altitude. This is an opportunity to hike to the nearby Zebra Rocks or the Mawenzi Ridge for incredible panoramic views and to aid in acclimatization.
Accommodation: on the Marangu Route are relatively comfortable compared to some other routes and well-established infrastructure too.
The Marangu Route, often referred to as the "Coca-Cola Route," is one of the most popular and classic routes to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, most well-established route, and is also the only route offering comfortable sleeping huts at every campsite with solar lights and comfortable beds. The huts are shared by all climbers and the bunks have sponge mattresses and pillows so require fewer supplies. The Marangu Route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the southeast. It is, unfortunately, less scenic than other routes because the ascent and descent are on the same path. Compared to other routes, it offers relative luxury.
