Diverse Landscapes: The Lemosho Route showcases a variety of ecosystems as you ascend, including lush rainforests, heathlands, moorlands, and alpine deserts. This variety provides a dynamic trekking experience and excellent opportunities for photography.
Scenic Views: From the Lemosho Route, you'll get stunning views of both Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscapes. The route includes views of the Shira Plateau, the Barranco Wall, and the glaciers of the mountain.
Acclimatization: The Lemosho Route is known for its excellent acclimatization profile due to its gradual ascent. This helps climbers better adjust to the altitude and increases the chances of reaching the summit successfully.
Sunset and Sunrise Views: The high camps on the Lemosho Route, particularly at the Shira Camp and Barranco Camp, offer spectacular sunset and sunrise views over the mountain and the surrounding landscapes.
The Lemosho route is considered the most scenic route on Kilimanjaro and is more enjoyable due to its panoramic views of the mountain from various sides. Lemosho approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the West, beginning with a long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate. From there, the first two days are spent trekking through the rainforest to Shira Ridge. The Lemosho route joins the Machame route near Lava Tower after Shira 2 Camp and proceeds to Lava Tower. It then heads down towards Barranco Valley via the Southern Circuit before summiting from Barafu and descending through the Mweka route. For better acclimatization and summit success.
