Tour Introduction

The trek to the base camp of the world’s tallest mountain- Mt. Everest (8848.86m) is filled with numerous natural attractions. Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the most popular trekking routes in the World. Likewise, the alluring nature with the majestic mountains in the background guarantees that you enjoy each moment on the trek. Moreover, you also visit many Sherpa villages, cultures, and monasteries on the trek. Firstly, you fly east to Lukla and start the trek. As the trek heads north, you follow the Dudh Koshi River and pass Phakding to reach Namche Bazaar. Next, you trek through the Sagarmatha National Park and head east towards Tengboche. Continuing ahead, you follow the Imja River to reach Pheriche. Next, the trek crosses the Thukla Pass (4830m) and heads to Lobuche. Finally, you head to the Everest Base Camp Trek along the Khumbu Glacier and head to Kalapatthar. After relishing the views of the Himalayas from Kalapatthar, you retrace your steps all the way to Lukla. Throughout this trek, you need to walk 5-6 hours on average. The 14-day trek gives you amazing views of  Mt. Everest (8848.86m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Lhotse (8516m), and many more. Along with it, the Sherpa culture welcomes you from the first day of the trek. Everest Base Camp Trek can be done by anyone with an average physical condition. So, you can enjoy this trek with your friends as well as your family. The Everest Three High passes Trek is another trek you can do if you want to explore more of the Everest region. The ideal times for this trek are during the spring and autumn seasons.

ITINERARY

Your arrival in Kathmandu will be marked by landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). A company representative of Himalayan Adventure Treks & Tours will receive you and transfer you to your hotel. Evening you can meet the participants and the trek members. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

On the second day of the Everest Base Camp Trek, you will take a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. The flight takes around 30-45 minutes and offers stunning views of the Himalayan peaks. After landing in Lukla, you will start your trek to Phakding, which is about a 3-4 hour walk. This is the first day of your trek and will allow you to acclimate to the elevation and get a feel for the trail. Phakding is a small village located near the Dudh Koshi River, where you will spend the night.

On the third day of the trek, you will leave Phakding and make your way to Namche Bazaar. This is a relatively long day of trekking, taking 6-7 hours to reach your destination. The trail takes you through lush forests, over suspension bridges, and along the banks of the Dudh Koshi River. As you ascend, you will enter the Sagarmatha National Park, where you will need to show your permit. Namche Bazaar is the largest town in the Khumbu region and is known for its vibrant Sherpa culture, traditional architecture, and stunning views of the surrounding peaks. You will spend the night in Namche Bazaar, acclimatizing to the increasing altitude.

On the fourth day, you will take a break from the trek to acclimate to the increasing altitude and to give your body a chance to recover. Acclimatization days are an important aspect of the Everest Base Camp Trek, as the rapid ascent to high elevations can cause altitude sickness in some individuals. During your acclimatization day, you can take a hike to the nearby village of Khumjung and visit the Khumjung Monastery, which houses a yeti scalp and is surrounded by stunning views of the Himalayas. Another option is to visit the Hotel Everest View, which is located just above Namche Bazaar and offers panoramic views of the highest peaks in the world, including Mount Everest. This day is an opportunity to explore the surrounding area, learn more about the local culture, and prepare for the rest of the trek.

On the fifth day of the trek, you will leave Namche Bazaar and make your way to Tengboche. The trail takes you through lush rhododendron forests and offers stunning views of the Himalayan peaks, including Ama Dablam and Thamserku. You will cross several suspension bridges and pass by the villages of Phunki Tenga and Devoche, before arriving in Tengboche. Tengboche is a picturesque village located in a scenic valley and is known for its impressive Tengboche Monastery, which is the largest in the Khumbu region. The monastery is an important cultural and spiritual center for the local Sherpa people and is surrounded by breathtaking views of the Himalayas. You will spend the night in Tengboche, taking in the stunning scenery and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

On the sixth day, you will continue your trek from Tengboche to Dingboche. This is a 5-6 hour trek that takes you through beautiful alpine forests and along terraced fields. The trail gradually ascends, offering views of the surrounding peaks, including Island Peak, Lhotse, and Makalu. Dingboche is a small village located in a scenic valley and is known for its stunning views of the surrounding peaks, including Ama Dablam and Makalu. You will spend the night in Dingboche, where you can relax, acclimate to the elevation, and prepare for the rest of the trek. This is an important stop on the way to the Everest Base Camp, as it allows you to acclimatize to the high elevation before continuing to higher altitudes.

On the seventh day, you will take another acclimatization day in Dingboche. This is an important aspect of the trek, as the rapid ascent to high elevations can cause altitude sickness in some individuals. Taking a rest day in Dingboche allows you to acclimate to the increasing altitude and gives your body a chance to recover. During your acclimatization day, you can take a hike to nearby hilltop for better acclimatization and to take in the stunning views of the surrounding peaks. You can also visit the local farms and fields to learn more about the traditional farming practices in the region. This day is an opportunity to explore the surrounding area, relax, and prepare for the rest of the trek.

On the eighth day, you will leave Dingboche and make your way to Lobuche. This is a 5-6 hour trek that takes you through barren and rocky landscapes, offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks, including Pheriche, Tawache, and Cholatse. You will also cross the glacial moraine of the Khumbu Glacier, and visit the memorials dedicated to the climbers and Sherpas who have lost their lives on Everest. Lobuche is a small settlement located at an elevation of 4910m, and is the last stop before reaching Gorak Shep and the Everest Base Camp. You will spend the night in Lobuche, acclimatizing to the elevation and preparing for the final stretch of the trek. This is an important stop on the way to the Everest Base Camp, as it allows you to acclimatize to the high elevation before continuing to higher altitudes.

On the ninth day, you will leave Lobuche and make your way to Gorakshep, which is the final stop before reaching the Everest Base Camp. The trail takes you across the Khumbu Glacier, offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks, including Pumori, Lingtren, and Khumbutse. Gorakshep is a small settlement located at an elevation of 5160m, and is the starting point for your visit to the Everest Base Camp. From Gorakshep, you will make your way to the Everest Base Camp, which is located at an elevation of 5360m. The trek to the base camp is a strenuous hike that takes approximately 3-4 hours each way. Along the way, you will pass by the Khumbu Icefall, the largest glacier in the world, and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks, including Nuptse and Lhotse. The Everest Base Camp is a historic site that has been visited by many famous climbers over the years, and is an important milestone for those attempting to summit Mount Everest. You will spend some time at the base camp, taking in the stunning scenery and learning about the history of mountaineering in the region. After visiting the base camp, you will return to Gorakshep for the night.

On the tenth day, you will start your day early with a hike to Kalapatthar. Kalapatthar is a small hill located at an elevation of 5545m and is known for offering some of the most stunning panoramic views of Mount Everest and the surrounding peaks. This is one of the highlights of the trek, and the sunrise from Kalapatthar is a truly unforgettable experience. After visiting Kalapatthar, you will make your way back to Gorakshep for a late breakfast and then continue on to Pheriche. Pheriche is a small village located at an elevation of 4371m, and is known for its scenic location and stunning views of the surrounding peaks. The trek from Gorakshep to Pheriche takes approximately 5-6 hours and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape and peaks, including Ama Dablam, Kangtega, and Thamserku. This is a beautiful and scenic trail that passes through alpine forests and meadows and along rivers and streams. You will spend the night in Pheriche, taking in the breathtaking views and relaxing after a long day of trekking.

On the eleventh day, you will begin your descent from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar. This is a 6-7 hour trek that takes you through scenic forests and alpine meadows, offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. You will cross several suspension bridges and pass by small villages and monasteries, giving you a glimpse into the local culture and way of life. Namche Bazaar is a thriving town located at an elevation of 3446m and is the gateway to the Everest region. This is one of the largest and most vibrant towns in the region, and is known for its bustling markets, vibrant nightlife, and diverse range of accommodations. You will spend the night in Namche Bazaar, taking in the sights and sounds of this lively town and preparing for your return to Lukla the following day.

On the twelfth day, you will make your way back to Lukla, retracing your steps from Namche Bazaar. This is a 5-6 hour trek that takes you through forests, alpine meadows, and small villages, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape and peaks. Lukla is a small town located at an elevation of 2860m and is the starting point for many treks in the Everest region. This is a bustling town with a variety of accommodations, restaurants, and shops, and is the last stop before your return flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Lukla, you will check into your hotel for the night, where you can relax and reflect on the amazing experiences of your trek to the Everest Base Camp. The following day, you will take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu, completing your adventure in the Everest region.

On the thirteenth day, you will take a morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. The flight from Lukla to Kathmandu is a breathtaking experience, offering stunning views of the Himalayan landscape, including the majestic peaks of Mount Everest and the surrounding range. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel. This is the end of your journey, and you can spend the rest of the day relaxing, exploring the city, and reflecting on the amazing experiences and memories you have created during your trek to the Everest Base Camp. Kathmandu is a vibrant and historic city with a rich cultural heritage, and is home to a variety of temples, palaces, and museums that showcase the rich history and traditions of Nepal. You can spend the rest of your day exploring the city, shopping for souvenirs, or simply relaxing and enjoying the local cuisine. In the evening we will have a farewell dinner at an authentic Nepalese restaurant with a cultural performance.

A representative from Himalayan Adventure Treks and Tours will take you to the airport, approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight. On your way home you'll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
