Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (Nairobi), you will be warmly welcomed by your safari representative and assisted with your transfer to your safari vehicle. After a short briefing about your adventure, begin the journey north toward Samburu National Reserve, a remote wilderness teeming with endemic species and dramatic landscapes. The drive, approximately 350 km (6–7 hours), passes through rolling hills, small towns, and rural villages. Take in the arid landscapes dotted with acacias and the Ewaso Ng’iro River cutting through the terrain. Stop along the way for refreshments and photography opportunities of the rugged scenery. Arrive at Samburu Simba Lodge in time for lunch, then settle into your tented room or suite, taking in the spectacular views of the river where elephants often come to drink. Take time to relax and soak in the calm atmosphere before your afternoon activities.
