ITINERARY
Distance: 9 km | Approx. 3–4 Hours Walk
Depart Nairobi in the morning and journey north through the fertile central highlands toward Nanyuki, the gateway town to Mount Kenya. Upon arrival, meet the mountain crew including guides, cook, and porters before proceeding to Sirimon Gate (2,650m), where your trekking adventure begins after park formalities.
Begin your gradual ascent through dense montane forest alive with birdlife, giant cedar trees, and occasional sightings of colobus monkeys and antelope. The scenic trail steadily climbs through bamboo zones and open moorland landscapes as fresh mountain air and panoramic scenery welcome you into Mount Kenya National Park.
Arrive at Old Moses Camp (3,300m) in the afternoon for dinner and overnight while enjoying the first breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.

After breakfast, continue your ascent through the dramatic Mackinder’s Valley, where the landscape transforms into high-altitude moorlands dotted with giant lobelias, groundsels, and unique alpine vegetation. The trail offers spectacular views of jagged peaks, sweeping valleys, and crystal-clear mountain streams flowing through the rugged terrain.
As you gain altitude, the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic, with occasional sightings of mountain wildlife including rock hyrax, sunbirds, and highland antelope species. Trek steadily “pole pole” for better acclimatization while surrounded by the magnificent beauty of Mount Kenya’s alpine wilderness.
Arrive at Shipton’s Camp (4,200m), nestled beneath the towering peaks of Batian and Nelion, for dinner and overnight preparation for the summit attempt ahead.

Today is dedicated to acclimatization, an important step in preparing your body for the summit climb. After breakfast, hike steadily toward Hausberg Col (4,600m), gaining magnificent panoramic views of Mount Kenya’s rugged peaks, glaciers, dramatic valleys, and rocky ridges.
The hike offers excellent opportunities for photography and altitude adaptation while exploring the spectacular alpine scenery surrounding the mountain. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the high-altitude environment before descending back to Shipton’s Camp for lunch and relaxation.
Spend the remainder of the afternoon resting, hydrating, and preparing for the midnight summit ascent beneath clear mountain skies.

Approx. 12–15 Hours Walk
Wake up shortly after midnight for tea and begin your summit attempt under a sky filled with stars. Trek slowly across rocky scree and steep alpine terrain toward Point Lenana (4,985m), arriving in time to witness a breathtaking African sunrise above the clouds.
From the summit, enjoy unforgettable panoramic views stretching across Mount Kenya’s peaks, glaciers, valleys, and distant landscapes. After sunrise and photography, descend carefully to Mintos Camp for breakfast before continuing down the scenic Chogoria Route.
The descent reveals some of Mount Kenya’s most spectacular scenery, including dramatic gorges, waterfalls, lakes, and the breathtaking Gorges Valley. Continue to Mount Kenya Bandas for a well-deserved hot shower, dinner, and overnight rest after an incredible summit achievement.

After breakfast, bid farewell to your mountain crew and descend through the forest to Chogoria Village, where your transfer vehicle awaits. Continue the journey toward the renowned Ol Pejeta Conservancy, one of Kenya’s leading wildlife conservancies and home to rhinos, chimpanzees, lions, elephants, and other iconic African wildlife.
Upon arrival, enjoy an exciting game drive across the vast conservancy landscapes, with opportunities to spot endangered black and white rhinos alongside diverse wildlife roaming the plains beneath the backdrop of Mount Kenya.
After the safari experience, enjoy lunch before beginning your journey back to Nairobi. Arrive in the evening and transfer directly to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward departure flight or drop-off at your hotel.
