ITINERARY
Distance: 120 km Non – game-viewing time: 2 – 3 hours. After breakfast at your lodge, our safari driver-guide will meet you & depart for Tarangire National Park via Arusha town, you may stop at the last shopping supermarket on the way for any last-minute purchase before heading to the park. The driving is on the Great Northern highway & across the Maasai steppe and local villages reach Tarangire after 2 to 3 hours and start the game drive right away. Tarangire is the fifth largest National park in Tanzania with a large elephant population found nowhere else in Africa. Tarangire River & huge baobab trees that dwarfing some animal species that come beneath it are among the highlights of this park. You may expect to spot herds of elephant, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, warthog, hippos & the three rare species of Greater Kudu, Fringed-eared Oryx & the ash stalling. For watchers, this is the place over 400 species of bird were recorded here which include ostrich, secretary bird, herons, ibises & other forest birds. Lion, hyena, cheetahs, jackals and leopards also can be seen here. Late afternoon drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Overnight at Eileen’s Trees inn in Karatu town or similar.
Distance: 145 km Non – game-viewing time: 3 – 4 hours. After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National park, driving via attractive high lying farmland of Karatu up Ngorongoro gate, After check-in, you will drive more up and along the Crater rim, stop for some pictures at the crater viewpoint. More drive around the Crater rim and down to the “Wilde Africa” The Serengeti National park with its endless rolling plains. On the way, you will visit one of the Masai villages whereby some Masai warrior invites you & give you a brief story of their life around this area, questions & answer session before entering their small houses. Later they will sing and dance their famous song which involving jumping high. From there drive further with an en-route game drive to Naabi Hills Gate for check-in before heading to the Central Serengeti park area called Seronera. The richest wildlife habitats in Serengeti, endowed with Seronera River, the main water source in the area that attracts an abundance of wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. Picnic lunch will be served at the Kopjes (Rocky outcropping). Afternoon game drive in search of the Wildebeest Migration, late drives to your lodge during or before the sunset. Overnight at Serengeti Thorn Trees Camp in Central Serengeti
Today your 5 days budget Tanzania lodge safari takes you for a full day of game drive in the Serengeti. You will start early with a packed breakfast box and lunch box. The early morning game drive allows you to spot the cat family on the road as they try to avoid the morning mist, you may also see nocturnal animals coming back from their long night of hunting or a group of lionesses organizing an ambush or eating along the road. Break for breakfast in the bush then you will be heading to where the Wildebeest migration is packed. Spend much time watching the migration of herds, the big cats and others. You may see a lot of animal actions like hunting, killing, fighting & so on. Drive back to the lodge during or before the sunset. Overnight at Serengeti Thorn Trees Camp in Central Serengeti
Distance: 85 km Non – game-viewing time: 2 – 3 hours. After breakfast at your camp, you will start with an en-route game drive towards Naabi Hills gate, after check out you will drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area & a decent 600 meters into the crater floor for exciting game drives. Ngorongoro Crater is referred to by many as one of the world natural wonders. Supported by yearly water supply and fodder, the crater supports a larger number of animals which includes herds of wildebeest, African elephants, eland, zebra, hippos, warthog, buffalo and many antelopes. The rare black rhino & the big 5 can be spotted in this area in the course of one day of game drive. (Packed lunch will be served on the crater floor). Another big surprise in this picturesque crater is the denser population of predators which includes lion, cheetah, hyena, jackal and the mysterious leopard that need binoculars eyes to spot. You will visit Lake Magadi a shallow alkaline Lake which is among the water sources in the crater, some flamingos, hippos & other aquatic birds can be seen here. Late afternoon drive out of the crater & Ngorongoro Conservation Area, arrive at the lodge for dinner & overnight. Overnight at Eileen’s Trees Inn in Karatu town.
Distance: 175 km Non-game viewing time: 3 to 4 hrs. After breakfast at your lodge, you will drive to Lake Manyara National park for a game drive, Lake Manyara is one of the beautiful parks in Tanzania derived its name from Masai word for Euphobia trucalli a milky bush weed used for fencing to protect their cattle. The park’s varied habitats of lush vegetation and tropical forest of huge figs and mahogany trees supported by plenty of underground water streams make this park green throughout the year. Lake Manyara tree-climbing lion & countless flamingos are the highlights of this park. Herds of wildebeest, buffalo, elephant, zebra, hippos & antelope can be seen wandering around the park. Primates like baboons, blue monkeys, velvet monkeys are also inhibited in this park. The eve elusive leopard which needs sharp eyes to sport is to be seen if lucky. Colourful flamingos & other aquatic birds can be seen at the lakeshore. Game drives until afternoon, then start your way back to Arusha, if not flying the same day you can visit some Masai market on your way to Arusha. Arriving in Arusha late afternoon for overnight.
